Hanukkah, an eight-day Jewish festival of rededication, is one of the most beloved and important holidays celebrated in the Jewish calendar. It is a time to light the Menorah, for family, friends and community to come together, and to remember the miraculous deliverance of the Jewish people after the victory of Hanukkah. Hanukkah’s first day is usually in November or December and the last day of the festival happens after 8 days. This year, Hanukkah begins on the 10th of December. Therefore, the question arises: What day of Hanukkah is it tomorrow?

Hanukkah Is A Miracle
The miracle of Hanukkah is reoccurring in history. In the time of the Maccabees, the Jewish people in Judea were led by a father, and son, Mattathias and Judah Maccabee, in a revolt against the oppressive rule of the Syrian Greek forces. These forces wanted to enslave the Jews and force them to worship idols and to forget their religion.
The Maccabees led a campaign for three years, freeing many of the Jewish people. Eventually, they became victorious and were able to retake the Temple in Jerusalem and re-dedicate it to the service of G-d. The story of Hanukkah tells us that when the Maccabees searched for oil to kindle the menorah – which burns lights during the festive days of Hanukkah – they found only enough oil to last for one night. Miraculously, the oil miraculously lasted for 8 days, enough time to prepare and bring new pure oil from which to kindle the Menorah for the holiday.
What Day Of Hanukkah Is It Tomorrow?
Tomorrow, December 16th, will be the 4th day of Hanukkah. This means that tomorrow we will light the fourth candle of the Hanukkah menorah, celebrate with our family, and enjoy special foods such as latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (jelly-filled donuts). The Hanukkah menorah has 8 branches and each day we light one new candle, starting with the first one on the first night of Hanukkah. Every night the holidays are celebrated by reciting special prayers, singing Hanukkah songs, and playing dreidel.
The Significance of the 4th Night of Hanukkah
The 4th night of Hanukkah is known as “Lev Habor”. The five vessels are named for the 5 books of the Torah: Bereishit, Shemot, Vayikra, Bamidbar, and Devarim. Thus, the fourth night of Hanukkah is Lev Habor, or the night of the first word in the fourth book of the Torah. Additionally, it also commemorates the fourth day of the Maccabees’ victory.
