Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an important Jewish holiday celebrated in November or December each year. It is celebrated with lighting traditional nine-branched candelabra called a menorah, and giving gifts. Hanukkah last eight night and begins on the 25th of the Hebrew month of Kislev. This year, Hanukkah begins on the evening of December 10th and ends on the evening of December 18th.
As with all Jewish holidays, Hanukkah begins with the candle-lighting on the previous evening that marks the start of the holiday. In other words, Hanukkah begins on December 10th, 2017 and ends on December 18th, 2017. Here is a brief overview of the eight nights of Hanukkah:

Night One: December 10th
On the first night, the family lights the one candle of the menorah and recites the traditional prayers. Then comes the exchanging of gifts and adding more candles to the menorah.
Night Two: December 11th
On night two, two candles of the menorah are lit. Exchange gifts on night two and give thanks for doubled blessings.
Nights Three: December 12th
On the third night, three candles of the menorah are lit and the festivities continue with gifts and kind deeds.
Nights Four: December 13th
On the fourth night, four candles of the menorah are lit and the celebration continues with stories and songs.
Night Five: December 14th
On the fifth night, five candles of the menorah are lit and gifts are shared. Families also enjoy traditional foods such as latkes and sufganiyot.
Night Six: December 15th
On the sixth night, six candles of the menorah are lit and stories of miracles and heroism are shared around the family dinner table.
Night Seven: December 16th
On the seventh night, seven candles of the menorah are lit and special blessings are said. Families spend time together playing dreidel and eating traditional foods.
Night Eight: December 17th
On the last night, eight candles of the menorah are lit and Hanukkah is celebrated with joyous songs.
Hanukkah is a time for family, giving thanks, and celebrating miracles during dark times. During Hanukkah, we remember the courage and faith of those who fought for freedom and embraced the light of the menorah. This year, Hanukkah begins on the evening of December 10th, and continues until the evening of December 18th.
